SERVICESA central feature of the
services Alta Vista offers is the work we do in partnership with others.
Examples of current or recent collaborative efforts include:
Collaborative work with the
Society of Christian
Schools in British Columbia resulted in a professional development
resource for administrators, curriculum leaders, and teachers –
Educating Toward Wisdom. Other collaborative
work has supplied professional development opportunities on both sides of
the border.
Alta Vista offers accreditation
support to regional Christian schools in partnership with
Christian Schools International
and NorthWest Christian Schools
International.
In partnership with
Seattle Pacific University, Alta Vista
offers the Professional Certification program to area
Christian teachers.
Alta Vista works collaboratively with K-12
schools to assist them in professional development and school renewal
efforts. This work includes such activities as:
• Workshops • Courses •
Consultations • Development of resources
• Other services upon request
Partnership efforts extend to the
international scene as well. Recently, Alta Vista partnered with the
International Association for the
Promotion of Christian Higher Education to host their 7th annual
consultation at which a global dialogue addressed such questions as: How
do institutions of Christian higher education and educational
organizations assist elementary and secondary education? What can we do to
promote coordination and collaboration between agencies involved in
serving emerging schools in developing countries? How can we foster closer
relationships between schools in different parts of the world?
Other international efforts include work with the Association of Christian
Higher and Secondary Education in Mexico and Dutch reformational
educational organizations, Veenendaal, the Netherlands. Our international
efforts are currently concentrated in Mexico, Central America, and Western
Europe, particularly in the Netherlands.
In addition to such
efforts, Alta Vista offers courses, workshops, resources, and
consultations in the areas of curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, biblical
and philosophical foundations of Christian education, reflection, and
education for social and environmental justice.
